345: I Would Like to Taste the Horsey Sauce

The Thunderbolts are ready to strike the MCU! A director has been hired, and that means it’s time to wildly speculate about who and what the team of villains-turned-heroes will be when they hit the big screen! To the point that we almost pitch a story, including a topical introduction to a certain Fantastic villain? And perhaps even a Merc with a mouth?? But anyway: What version of the comic will it look to adapt? Which MCU villains will make the cut? Will Zemo keep the purple balaclava or will he don the weird silver pointy mask of Citizen V? And just imagine: Werner Herzog as Baron Zemo Sr.!

And what news! The Boys is coming back for a 4th season, and Jensen Ackles opens up about show creator Eric Kripke’s diabolical methods! TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is out literally tomorrow, with some excessive special editions coming in the probably distant future! Joe Quesada is retiring from Marvel after 20+ years in charge! And a a chance glimpse of “Ugly Namor” has us chatting about when superheroes weren’t all Hollywood hot & fit and whether they even should be! Maybe some comic podcast hosts could be superheroes! MAYBE!

330: It’s Disgusting Shakespeare, Is What It Is

Peacemaker cameth and wenteth, and we have many thoughts on what we have seen! How did the show rapidly evolve? What made it even possible? What parts do we especially love as shameless James Gunn fans? How amazing was that cast as a whole? What could possibly be in store for season two? And how about those last-episode cameos that we’re not sure if it’s cool to casually talk about in an episode description?? But we’ve got another special treat in honour of this hard-R foul gross-out romp: we don’t even TRY to bleep our swears or edit out our disgusting tangents! You’re welcome (we’re sorry)! May want to put in the headphones if there are kids around, seriously.

Oh, you think that’s all? Listen friend, don’t even worry about it, we’ve got multiple segments on this show! We talk about the new “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness” trailer, somehow both speculating and commenting on the state of over-speculation for literally everything. We’ve got news! Comixology updates and finally fully integrates with Amazon and nobody is happy about it, not even one bit! DC’s Wonder Twins are getting a movie on HBO Max (no, really)! And more!? And more!

263: Shirtless Nick Nolte as Namor

This week the boys talk about projects mired in development hell. Films. Comics. Our lives in 2020. We talk about projects that made it out of a long battle to finally see the light, ones still fighting to be made and projects that came up, fell into a bog and will be found 1000 years from now perfectly preserved. That and we celebrate Kyle’s birthday by putting in comic book set ups and seeing how he does. Enter…. the Lees Paradox. All that and a ton of news….. and shirtless Nick Nolte as Namor…… you can hear his voice can’t you, Clarice. The garbled screeching of the Noltes……Join us won’t you?

242: It Ends with Rick Jones Holding a Snowglobe

You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts. This week, we dedicate time to talking about the crazy, the absurd, and the just plain chemically imbalanced. How messed up is The Hulk these days (very), is The Tick legally insane (yep), and is Doctor Strange secretly delusional (it depends)?

All that and hot Jackpot (who?) and Sandman news, and we pit some superheroes against the apocalypse in the Warm Up!

229: A Batman who Washes His Ass

Holy smokes, did you know there’s a new Batman movie in the works right now, helmed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson? So I guess there won’t be anyone else playing Batman after this, he’s the last one, nobody else will ever play Batman.

Despite this, we do our best to recast Batman and his allies and enemies, just in case they do ever decide to make another Batman movie. Y’know, just in case!

Plus: Dan DiDio’s ousting from DC, all the hot ToyFair news, the cast reveal for Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and Kyle tells us about The Fourth Planet, a comic series from someone we aren’t attempting to fource a bitter rivalry with.

187: Just Mash John Larroquette in There

Who’s ready for a lightning round!? This week we answer the questions no one else dares to ask! What lesser-known online niche show should you watch? If you had to permanently kill a character at Marvel and DC, who would it be, and why? What non-Batman, non-Superman comic story would you adapt for an animated movie, and who would you cast? What characters would merge in a 2019 version of Amalgam Comics? And what OTHER character would you give the Spider-Verse treatment to?

…I mean, those are great questions, but listen to what WE’D do!

155: Wolverine Gets Deported

It’s just past Canada Day! It’s the Fourth of July! Tensions are rising on the Canada-US border! So for three Canadian comic fans and creators… what does this mean!? This week we talk all about the impact of an increasing trade war and border-security squabble on our favourite fictional Canadian-Americans, and poke a little good-natured (ha ha, good natured, we promise) fun at our national rivalries! Alpha Flight ruuuules!!!

Also: So much news! Bry pits Kyle against Merk in a Canada vs. USA comic quiz! And Merk tells a spooooooky story about he and C.G. Rackham’s travel to a haunted Ontario comic-con!

140: Long Pause, Then a Sawhorse

Oh my! Today is a day the boys travel in time! Whether it’s to tell you the comic news (because it’s recorded several weeks before it airs!), or Bry goes to back over a decade to make a superhero movie better, or we go ALLLLL the way back and talk prehistoric characters…. this is the length they go to to entertain! You’ll hear such bits as…. the super soldier sermon…just going to get space cigarettes baby!… Lex needs a face on his tummy… that’s right, his last name is STEGRON!….his father was a neanderthal who was just set in his ways….this is the 30 seconds we talk about that comic we haven’t read…my favourite part is when they refer to dinosaurs as honkers… How old is Zabu? Cut it open and count the rings…so Tony Shalhoub takes up archery…. AND SO MUCH MORE!!!! Join us, won’t you…

136: The Worst Marvel Movie Is Still Thor 1 or 2

This week, the boys are joined by Ryan Mackett, the TBay Movie Guy, to answer the year-or-three-old question: are comic books killing movies? The answer may surprise yo if you’ve never listened to the show before and think that we think comics are killing movies.

Plus: So much news discussion it’s almost criminal (but it isn’t, we checked and everything), casting ’70s He-Man AND genderswap Batman film franchises, and more delicious recipe…names!
