366: The Meaning of Christmas is Organs

Shocking news, everyone: it’s DECEMBER! But at least we’ve got some holiday specials to enjoy – starting with the Guardians of the Galaxy one that came out recently! Let’s watch that and talk about it, huh?

But that may not be enough holiday spirit for us, so let’s also pitch some special presentations of our own! Imagine, if you will: Nathan Fillion finally joins the MCU in an ULTRA cheery story straight out of the 1991 Marvel Holiday Special! Werewolf By Night and Man-Thing fend off burglars in a monster-ized “Home Alone” style adventure! A holiday card from The Thing kicks off a bizarre claymation-animated odyssey straight outta Marvel Two-In-One! Miserly Bruce Wayne is plagued by ghost Robins in a Wayne Manor Christmas Carol! Are you ready for… the Twelve Nights of What If…? And there are plenty more under the podcast tree!

Classic Zero Issues 1: The Monster at the End of This Event

The boys are on a very real vacation around the world! First stop: the Savage Land! But while we enjoy some R&R, why not enjoy a classic episode from the archives? We’ve chosen a few old favourites to re-present! First up:

The adventures of your favourite comic characters will never really end, but… do you sometimes wish they would? This week the boys talk about “personal end points”, those stories that seem to perfectly wrap up a hero’s journey, with our favourite examples and how it can be hard to keep following them into their next run.

Also: A round of Superhero Mad-Libs! And an extremely mature Dramatic Reading of a golden-age Blue Beetle comic where Dan Garrett takes on a, uh… large member… of his rogues’ gallery.

242: It Ends with Rick Jones Holding a Snowglobe

You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts. This week, we dedicate time to talking about the crazy, the absurd, and the just plain chemically imbalanced. How messed up is The Hulk these days (very), is The Tick legally insane (yep), and is Doctor Strange secretly delusional (it depends)?

All that and hot Jackpot (who?) and Sandman news, and we pit some superheroes against the apocalypse in the Warm Up!

157: I Don’t Need Luck, I Eat Nuts

This week we pay tribute to the life and career of Steve Ditko! From the art, stories, and characters that helped shape comics, to his long and varied history in the industry, the wide-ranging influences he left, and the personal and political philosophy he lived and created by.

Also: We blast through a rapid-fire news segment, do a quiz about what ridiculous events did and didn’t cause Bill Bixby’s David Banner to transform into the Hulk, and perform a Dramatic Reading of the first-ever appearance of Squirrel Girl! A is A, and Zero Issues is Zero Issues!!
