This week, we’ve got the power! POWER RECORDS, that is! We’re doing the riff-along thing again as we react to a weird Spider-Man LP story from 1975: “Invasion of the Dragon Men”! What is the secret of Draco, the Dragon-Man from the skies? Why is Peter Parker tweaking? Who is the 80-year-old chain smoker college student? How many voices can Rodney, the only Power Records voice actor, pull off? All this and more!!
Release the Snyder Cut! I guess! There’s somehow still talk of this thing (possibly more talk, even), so this week, we’re coming up with our own Snyder Cuts. How do you fix a movie like Justice League, anyway? And how could you fix other movies in the same way?
Plus, we’re talking about comic book piracy. When indie books are being downloaded by the hundreds of thousands, and the creators are broke, is that cool? On the flipside, comic books are damned expensive, dawg. Like, real ‘spensive. We solve this problem*!
All that, and Kyle manages to contribute to the news for once.
This is the end, beautiful friends…. for these unfortunate characters! This week we pitch endings in the spirit of several Marvel titles that tell the last story of that character. However we don’t know which characters until the last second so we’re making up their endings on the fly!! How does Machine Man go offline? How does Angel fall to earth? How does Spidey sputter? How does Blade bite it? That plus a House of X game, witness (with your ears) the origin of JIMBERJACK, get a rundown of some Marvel NYCC news, Joker movie first weekend numbers, and a bizarre, rambling open that even we don’t understand how we went from Namorita to ‘what is a casserole’? Join us, won’t you? And please bring your favourite casserole.
Ruination! This week, we set out to ruin some of our favourite characters. Kinda like all those times that we’ve tried to fix characters that haven’t gotten their fair shake, but the opposite. Moon Knight, Thor, and Nightwing are so screwed after this (assuming that Marvel ,and DC listen to this podcast [they won’t]).
We’ve got that, plus: more CW Crisis news (this thing needs more cameos, I say), and some more new Amalgam characters! Let’s get ruined!
This week we catch up with the absolute hell of news that was announced in-between recording dates – from TV and movie announcements at D23 and beyond! And believe it or not, it’s not all Marvel! I mean, it’s like… 92% Marvel. But there are “Joker” reactions, Suicide Squad rumours, more Star Wars shows, and a friggin’ G.I. Joe spin-off! The MCU’s Phase 4 is steamrolling across the small and silver screens, but a certain web-slinger may be out of the picture thanks to a cross-corporation custody battle… But we’ve got the *real* scoop about an extremely not-fake conspiracy that’s torn Sony and Disney asunder!
This week the boys take it on the road! …. or at least talk about comic characters taking it on the road. With Spidey: Far from Home coming out they discuss heroes out & about, traveling the world! And it’s interesting how many times Spider-Man has gone international…. and killed people! Seriously! JJJ was right! He’s a menace!! We also go over Peter’s bizarre multi city trip to Canada on the Bugle’s dime (JJJ was just trying to get rid of that psychopath!) Hear about the Chameleon bribing kids with drugs for their science notes and the tale of the RIGHT RIDERS (Brett Butte & all)! Which character would you take to Mardi Gras? Find out why Kyle would take Hawkman and why he seems to think all international festivals revolve around the throwing of beads. All this plus the DC Vertigo ‘thang’ and why Netflix won’t be dropping Good Omens anytime soon. Seriously, this is a good one. Join us for a little trip…
Zounds! Once again we dig into the Fletcher Hanks Bible to perform a mind-bending dramatic reading from the adventures of the Super Wizard Stardust! This time, ol’ Dusty goes up against a mad scientist who plans to reverse the Earth’s gravity in a scheme to have all the world’s automobiles and ships to himself! (A description can’t do it justice, trust us.)
Also! In honour of Brightburn, we pitch some movie ideas that give a horror twist to other beloved superheroes! And in the news: which X-Men are dead now? (Or which AREN’T at this point?)
Do you ever get tired of the same old powers? Day after day, the same heat vision, the same boring adamantium claws? Well, have comics got the solution for you! That’s right, this week we’re talking about all the times our favourite heroes got ridiculous new powers! Sometimes Wolverine gets HOT CLAWS, sometimes Spider-Man gets stingers out of his wrists, sometimes Superman just blue himself. And each and every time, these new powers were here to stay! (R…right?)
But that’s not all! We’ve got controversies to discuss in the worlds of comics and comic-movie news, Merk breaks down the new status quo for Guardians of the Galaxy, and we just… get pretty silly all around. Enjoy??
This week, it could only be about Stan. To mark the passing of the most famous (and to some infamous?) comics legend, we’re talking all about the co-creations, the stories, the impact, the collaborations, the creative controversies, the legacy… of Stan “The Man” Lee.
But first! Would’ja believe there’s other comics news this week? And we reveal a forgotten musical theatre production about Bob the Goon! Listen up, true believers!!
This week we go all over the place with a Lightning Round! What should Superman’s new power be? What comic book should have an awesome open world game? How much Batdick is too much Batdick? These questions and many more definitively answered in this “we recorded it a month ago so it isn’t necessarily current” episode!
