The boys are on a very real vacation around the world! First stop: the Savage Land! But while we enjoy some R&R, why not enjoy a classic episode from the archives? We’ve chosen a few old favourites to re-present! First up:

The Thunderbolts are ready to strike the MCU! A director has been hired, and that means it’s time to wildly speculate about who and what the team of villains-turned-heroes will be when they hit the big screen! To the point that we almost pitch a story, including a topical introduction to a certain Fantastic villain? And perhaps even a Merc with a mouth?? But anyway: What version of the comic will it look to adapt? Which MCU villains will make the cut? Will Zemo keep the purple balaclava or will he don the weird silver pointy mask of Citizen V? And just imagine: Werner Herzog as Baron Zemo Sr.!

And what news! The Boys is coming back for a 4th season, and Jensen Ackles opens up about show creator Eric Kripke’s diabolical methods! TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is out literally tomorrow, with some excessive special editions coming in the probably distant future! Joe Quesada is retiring from Marvel after 20+ years in charge! And a a chance glimpse of “Ugly Namor” has us chatting about when superheroes weren’t all Hollywood hot & fit and whether they even should be! Maybe some comic podcast hosts could be superheroes! MAYBE!

From the blessed content fountain known as the public domain, here we blast off in another dramatic reading of a bonkers golden-age comic! TORPEDOMAN! The man who is also a torpedo, I guess? “Ghostly Weird Stories”published by Four Star/Ajax-Farrell brings us a tale of a shirtless deep-sea diving dynamo — or maybe it’s just a flesh-coloured shirt, I don’t know what’s going on — who finds himself in murky waters when he’s ensnared in the racketeers’ net of… uh, MR. FOWLER! Listen and/or watch as our golden age hero contends with an uncanny and monstrous OCTOPUS, wait no that’s OCTUPUS, that hides a fantastic secret! All that and: The Ol’ Chili Hole!? ZOUNDS, is what somebody probably says in this comic! What, are you gonna say no to all that??

This week we celebrate the 20th anniversary of FREE COMIC BOOK DAY with a look at it’s history and beginnings.
We also talk news of Spidey’s 60th anniversary, a rumbling in the Conan licensing ranks, and the CW bloodbath of cancellations.
Merk also delves into a non comic book film he discovered on the ‘flix that deserves your wide eyed, deer caught in the headlights, how did this get made sort of attention. It’s a Jean Claude Desert Heat Inferno Coyote Ugly Moon sort of evening. Make it a blockbuster night.
All that and teasing Spider-Man for fat hands, eating a whole bowl of spaghetti for Spidey and Thai Pods!
