Episode 80: Teen Teams – Hawkman Can’t Eat Rice

This week on the show, we’re talking all about one of comics’ proudest traditions: child endangerment! Since the Teen Titans in 1966, kid and teenage superhero teams have been a constant presence, even more than we realized at first! So join as we go through some of our favourites (your New Mutants, your Young Justices, your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles),talk about the appeal of young heroes, and maybe go on a tangent or five.

ALSO: We play MFK with the JSA, review at least part of the new Tick pilot on Amazon, pitch Hipster Tawky Tawny, and come up with the best-ever use of Hawkman!

Episode 79: Suicide Squad – Pecaaans, Dahhhling

Okay, we KNOW that Suicide Squad has been talked to death already. But DON’T WORRY!!! We don’t review it… really… much. What we DO is write new dialogue for what the characters MIGHT have said and then talk about what they could possibly do for the sequel…. because… well, you know that’s gonna happen, right?

Also: Merk travels across the universe with the Silver Surfer, discussing the bizarre 1998 cartoon in all it’s shiny, creepy, Dune-like, “Puppets Who Kill” glory. And a special, crazy remix of the boys at the end because this week’s editor was up FAR too late and blew a nut in his brain. Send help.

Episode 78: Failed Pilots – Nick Fury / Wonder Woman

This week it’s all failures, wonderful failures! The boys (and special guest, LU Radio‘s Jason Wellwood) assemble to watch the infamous 1998 Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD TV movie, then sit down for a round-table discussion on the good, the bad, and the Hasselhoff. Next up, we talk about the doomed, never-aired David E. Kelley-produced 2001 Wonder Woman pilot starring Adrianne Palicki… and all the ways it went wrong.

Also: a Crappy Superhero Movies Quiz! And an actually-really-good comic show that never got off the ground.

Episode 77: The Killing Joke – The One Where It’s Short

Last week, the boys got together to talk about the hottest DC theatrical release that everyone was talking about. That’s right, the one with that famous Batman-related female character that became overtly sexualized in this adaptation. We sure didn’t like it too much!

Okay fine we talked about The Killing Joke. Look, Suicide Squad wasn’t out when we recorded!

But then (then!): disaster struck, and the episode was lost forever. So we did it again. Why? Because Suicide Squad still wasn’t out when we re-recorded! There’s no time to explain, get in the podcast!
